Pedal Line Friday :: Heath S

Heath S

Here's some pics of my Adam Jones of Tool inspired Pedalboard.

Starting with a custom built board from William Knoche. I painstakingly searched and gathered all the vintage pedals for this board.

The first thing I mounted was a Wiremold Legrand Rackmount 8 outlet power strip and then a Korg Tuner that's fed a signal from the first Boss PSM-5.

Then from there second Boss PSM-5 it goes to an MXR Micro Amp and into a Goodrich LDR-2 Volume pedal that was the hardest pedal of all to find. From the volume pedal its chain is the Boss CE-2W chorus then the MXR Micro Flanger and over to the Boss RV-3 digital Delay/Reverb. After that it's over to the first Boss DD-3 Digital Delay then to the second DD-3 and onto the MXR Carbon Copy Deluxe which has a Dunlop mini-x expression pedal to switch between effects. Then back to the Boss BF-2 Flanger and to the DOD FX40-B Equalizer and then the Ernie Ball Expression Tremelo. Finally over to the Cry Baby 535 Wah pedal with Boost and over to the second Boss PSM-5 to complete the loop. It's then fed through a DOD FX69B Grunge pedal and to a DOD FX59 Thrash Master then to my Marshall VS-265 combo amp.

Everything is powered by a Voodoo Lab Power Pedal Plus 3 and Pedal Power X8.

I'm playing a Gibson Adam Jones Les Paul Standard in Silverburst through it all.

Little back history the Marshall amp I had found by a dumpster on trash day about 24 years ago and all it needed was a tube replaced.  Then the Boss RV-3 was given to me by the brother of T-Bone Kelly of Slaughter after his passing in 1998.  The DOD Thrash Master was the first pedal I ever bought 31 years ago.

I'm trying to figure out what's going to work for distortion with this setup and I've been thinking about adding the Diezel VH4-2 Overdrive and Pre-amp pedal to fill the void if need be.

Thanks for looking,
Heath

Submit Your Pedal Line!

About a million years ago, I used to run a blog called EffectsBay. On that blog, the most popular feature I would run was Pedal Line Friday. This is where readers of the site would send pics of their pedalboard and a short (sometimes long) write-up of routing and thoughts about specific pedals and the reasoning why they liked it, etc. Readers. loved this. It was a great way to learn about new applications or techniques regarding pedals. It also brought a little inspiration and knowledge about pedals you were not familiar with. It also brought a great sense of community - people like sharing and absorbing cool things, right? It was a super popular feature, and I loved putting them together.

All you have to do is send a pic of your pedalboard (or pedal line - it doesn't have to be on a board) along with a short (or long) write-up of the board. We want a list of pedals (manufacturer/model), routing would be great, and, most importantly, why you use those particular pedals. Also, this is a great way to promote your band or musical project - include that information as well!

You can send the pic and the write-up to pedalline@rattlesnakecables.com.

I bought two Rattlesnake standard 20 foot cables with gold connector plugs. These cables are truly superior products. I've been playing guitar and bass since 1963 and these are easily the highest quality cables I've owned in my 59 year musical journey, as mostly a hobbyist, but with significant... Read

I purchased my first cable about 4 years ago. I found this company on Facebook and liked that it was a mom and pop business in the U.S.A. I have not been disappointed. Very sturdy. I bought a back up and some flex cables. I don't think I will ever need the back-up. Highly recommended. I will never... Read

I bought two Rattlesnake standard 20 foot cables with gold connector plugs. These cables are truly superior products. I've been playing guitar and bass since 1963 and these are easily the highest quality cables I've owned in my 59 year musical journey, as mostly a hobbyist, but with significant stage and studio time. The cables are a heavier gauge than most on the market today, which I believe enhances the connectivity. I immediately noticed a slight boost in volume from my amp(s) and the sound produced seems to be more clear. Great signal transmitted! Although the cables are of a heavier gauge, they are flexible enough that they are easy to manage. There is none of the wrangling with twisting, and tangling that seems to go with both super stiff cables and cables that are lighter gauge wire. Those of you who have been frustrated with this know what I mean. Rattlesnake offers a variety of colorful outer plastic sheathing for their cables. Color choices and patterns range from subdued to very colorful. They look cool, seal the cable to the connectors, and serve to help the with the manageability of the cables as described in the paragraph above. The sheathing also makes coiling the cables for storage after use a breeze. The buying and customer service experience was also superior. Probably, hands down, the best online buying experience I've had. Confirmations and notifications about the status of my order were immediate. I bought the cables on a Saturday, they were built and shipped the same day. I received them, from Montana to Iowa, on Monday. Hank followed up to make sure all was OK and then sent me a personalized video thanking me for my business. Rattlesnake Cables provides a superior product at a fair and reasonable price, a really nice buying experience, a simple order and check out process, top notch customer service and follow up, and immediate shipping.... all with a high-level personal touch. Oh, and did I mention their website is very cool and easy to navigate, plus provides great product information? What's not to like? Buy here with confidence. You won't be disappointed!

April 2023... So I'm in Missoula, Montana visiting my son and his family… My son had this guitar cable that was an eye-catcher… Good quality cable with durable ends… Rattlesnake Cables…. Well… it so happens that Rattlesnake Cables is located in Missoula… Shot an email to Hank (the owner) about a custom order (15' with two 90's)… No problem… Placed the order late one night and the cable was ready for pickup the next day…. And Hank?… Super nice guy… And a pro player… My son and I then got a quick tour of his compact, yet efficient operation… In fact, the next morning I ordered a second custom cable (10' with two 90's) and it was ready that afternoon… So… major kudos to Hank and Rattlesnake Cables for such quick service… P.S. these cables will also make great gifts… Wayne from Texas
