Snake Head Rattlesnake Instrument Cable.

Snake Head Rattlesnake Instrument Cable

"Snake Head" as we like to call them is a cable with the heat and abrasion resistant sleeving stopping short on the end connecting to the instrument. This leaves a portion of raw cable touching the instrument; perfect for wrapping around guitar straps. Our Snake Head Instrument Cables come in 10', 15' and 20' lengths. Each cable can have straight, right angle or a mix of Neutrik Nickel plugs (Neutrik Golds are also available) - just be sure to select the proper plug style connecting to the instrument. Colors include red, black, sage, dirty tweed, blue, copper and mean green.

Snake Heads are ideal to connect your instrument to a pedalboard or directly to the amp. If you're looking for a cable connecting from pedalboard to amp, we recommend our Standard Instrument Cable - where the weaving fully covers the cable from plug end to plug end.

Answer
A Snake Head is a cable that has the outer weaving stop short on the instrument side of the cable. This is a cosmetic feature, especially nice if you have vintage or sensitive finishes and you're concerned about the weaving causing wear on the instrument if you run the cable between the strap and instrument body.
Answer
No, our cables are not directional. If you're purchasing a Snake Head, the Snake Head portion should be on the instrument side, but that only is cosmetic. The cable will work fine if plugged in any direction.
Answer
The Snake Head is only needed if you're concerned about finish wear if you have vintage or sensitive finishes like thin nitro, etc. If you don't care (or even want the wear) a Standard is great for the primary instrument cable. If this cable is going from pedalboard to amp, then it should be a Standard to ensure maximum protection of the cable.
Answer
A silent plug is not necessarily an "upgrade". Typically, a silent plug is for acoustic players who do not have the ability to mute their signal and would unplug their instrument. If you're an electric player with a Tuner or Volume pedal, then you don't really need a silent plug. Silent plugs are great, but they do provide another potential point of failure - so I always recommend, if you don't need the feature, purchase a standard plug.
Answer
Some of our customers swear by gold contacts. Some of our customers can't hear a difference. Gold does provide a better contact surface, but the signal improvement may be hard to notice. Some of our customers (including myself) just like the cosmetic look of the black shells with gold contacts. If you're in a humid climate and deal with corrosion, gold might be better for you as well.
Answer
When people ready that, the first assumption is that the copper is somehow 'air tight'. Nope. OFBC is part of the smelting process where the oxygen molecules are smelted out or removed to a point where it's below .001%. This makes a very pure copper allowing for great conductivity.
Answer
We have a variety of wire mills that we work with. All of the wire mills we work with our in the United States. We take extreme pride that our cable is milled in the United States and hand assembled here in Missoula, Montana.

Testimonial:

I've been a bass guitar player for over 30 years and I've worked with a lot of musical equipment companies over the years. Believe me when I say I have gone through my share of cables as well. I've owned cables ranging from "the discount bin" at the local Mom and Pop music store up to seriously high dollar "boutique" cable companies. No cable I've played in 30+ years has had the build quality, fit and finish of my Rattlesnake cables. I am an admitted "high fidelity tone snob"as well and the clarity and quality of tone from these cables is better than ones I've paid four times the price for. I just wish I had found Rattlesnake sooner!

Thoughts about our Service:

From the first time I reached out to Rattlesnake about some product questions, Hank was responsive, professional, and very sincere in his efforts to make sure I was a satisfied customer. Even though I was a new customer and just some "average Joe", Hank treated me like a rock star, touring professional with a million dollar endorsement deal! I could not have asked for a better purchasing experience or for better products. I won't be using anything other than Rattlesnake Cable products from now on.

What was purchased:

I'm using Rattlesnake Snakehead, Standard and Speaker cables.

Testimonial:

I've been eyeing cables from Rattlesnake for a while now. Esp since EGC and Brian from Sumac use them. When one of my trusty Lava cables started getting funky a few weeks ago, i saw it as a sign. I had 2 standard black weave right angle to straight end and holy sh*t! I should've switched over years ago! Sturdy and great sounding! I couldn't be more happy! Will be ordering more cables from Hank. Ps. No one talks about the extra care with packaging but i'll say this, order some cables from them and see. It's a pleasant surprise!

Thoughts about our Service:

A+. Couldn't be happier!

What was purchased:

2 15' black weave standards, both right angle to straight.

Testimonial:

As a working musician I keep my instruments and gear organized in "kits". These kits have all the supporting gear for the instrument or instruments I am using in a performance. Dobro, Lap Steel, Pedal Steel all require different pedal boards, stands and sound reinforcement equipment. My cables were an odd assortment of cables that I had acquired over the years. The criteria for cable replacement was "when it failed during a show" it was replaced. This lead to some disastrous cable failures at really bad times. I knew I had to get my cables in order. So I did the research to find the Best Quality Cables, backed by the best company. My conclusion was Rattlesnake Cable Company. Handmade cables made in the Western USA. Now every instrument kit has Rattlesnake Cables. Here is a pro tip: Color code your cables! Got a red guitar , get red cables. To the pedal board and to the amp. Most of the time there is a lot of confusion clearing a stage. People are in a hurry. This is where you loose cables! Black cables get rolled up and carried away accidentally. Get odd matching colors for a particular instrument.

Thoughts about our Service:

The Rattlesnake customer service is outstanding. I asked a simple question via an online order and received an phone call to clarify my question an hour later. Thats real "Western Service"!
