The Rattlesnake Standard Instrument Cable comes in 3', 6', 10', 15', and 20' lengths. Each cable can have a straight, right angle or a mix of Neutrik Nickel plugs (Neutrik Golds are also available). Colors include red, black, sage, dirty tweed, blue, copper, mean green, and snake weave. Each cable is fully wrapped in heat and abrasion-resistant outer sleeving from plug end to plug end.
Our Standard Instrument Cable is a great cable to run between your pedalboard and amp or between your guitar/bass and pedalboard or amp. If you're concerned about the finish of your instrument, take a look at our Snake Head Instrument cable!
If you're wanting a particular length not available in the dropdown or a specific custom cable, just send us a custom build request!
No, our cables are not directional. If you're purchasing a Snake Head, the Snake Head portion should be on the instrument side, but that only is cosmetic. The cable will work fine if plugged in any direction.
The Snake Head is only needed if you're concerned about finish wear if you have vintage or sensitive finishes like thin nitro, etc. If you don't care (or even want the wear) a Standard is great for the primary instrument cable. If this cable is going from pedalboard to amp, then it should be a Standard to ensure maximum protection of the cable.
A silent plug is not necessarily an "upgrade". Typically, a silent plug is for acoustic players who do not have the ability to mute their signal and would unplug their instrument. If you're an electric player with a Tuner or Volume pedal, then you don't really need a silent plug. Silent plugs are great, but they do provide another potential point of failure - so I always recommend, if you don't need the feature, purchase a standard plug.
Some of our customers swear by gold contacts. Some of our customers can't hear a difference. Gold does provide a better contact surface, but the signal improvement may be hard to notice. Some of our customers (including myself) just like the cosmetic look of the black shells with gold contacts. If you're in a humid climate and deal with corrosion, gold might be better for you as well.
When people read that, the first assumption is that the copper is somehow 'air tight'. Nope. OFBC is part of the smelting process where the oxygen molecules are smelted out or removed to a point where it's below .001%. This makes a very pure copper allowing for great conductivity.
We have a variety of wire mills that we work with. All of the wire mills we work with our in the United States. We take extreme pride that our cable is milled in the United States and hand assembled here in Missoula, Montana.

I've received emails over the years from Rattlesnake cables. I'm always game to try new things, it usually I go back to the old tried and true cables I've used for years. I decided to give Rattlesnake cables a day in court. I'm happy I did. I immediately heard less high-end attenuation and sweeter midrange. My guitar definitely punches through more. I'm definitely glad I made the purchase.
Thoughts about our Service:
Great customer service. It was nice to get a personalized video from Hank thanking me for my purchase. The cables arrived quickly.
Ok, I wanted to gig them a little before commenting. I bought two 10' and two 6' rattlesnake color guitar cables. The 10s are for our 2-3 man acoustic gigs or small stage shows. For larger stage I would use the wireless. The 6’s are for a small practice space.
Pros: First the obvious: the website is excellent for information and functionality. Second the customer service is top notch. Emails confirming the order, starting the build, shipping, and to confirm the order is acceptable. Third, the whole process only took a matter of days between the order and having the cables in hand. Btw, the packaging is very professional. A+. Cables USA made to order by hand - A+.
Now the cables themselves, the pros and cons. Pro 1. The cables look great. Back when I started playing there were endless manufacturers and a rich pallet of colors of cables to choose from, just so long as you wanted a black Whirlwind. When our road guy opened my gig bag he saw something resembling a rattlesnake and he nearly hit the ceiling. He denies it was that dramatic. But it was. The laugh earns an A+ for appearance. Pro 2. These wrapped cables are STIFF. Stiff can be beneficial but not universally. Stiff means that these things are tough. I believe they will out live me. It also means they do not tangle. Signal cables that don’t tangle are worth their weight in gold. Now the cons: These cables are STIFF. That works fine with two ten footers on a small stage, from amp to pedals to guitar. For a large stage the 6’ or 10’ will work fine between amp and wireless base unit. (I don’t use pedals in that circumstance). But the two 6’ in a small practice space doesn’t work. The cables are stiff and unforgiving in that use. I put a single Jackson Audio two stage gain pedal between the cables in that use, and those stiff 6’ cables flip that pedal all over the place every time the guitar moves. Having it to do over again I would have bought nothing less than the 10’s for the tiny area due to the stiffness.
Overall I would highly recommend any rattlesnake cable 10’ or longer.
Exceptional handmade cables, not just great sounding but great looking and very durable stylish exterior covering. The brown Rattlesnake covered cables I purchased look great plugged into my Les Paul Gold Top and Blonde Fender Bassman. I'll be buying more in the future!
Thoughts about our Service:
The communication was quick, thorough and they got my cables to me very quickly and in a very nice white cloth storage bag!
There is no store in my country (South Korea), so I ordered it directly from Rattlesnake Cable Company. The delivery period of 2 weeks was long, but it was resolved by the high quality of the cable. Although expression will be limited due to poor English proficiency, the cable is very solid and the appearance is also wonderful. Thank you for the Rattlesnake that shipped to a faraway place.
I had been contemplating ordering a Rattlesnake cable for several months, knowing I wasn't truly needing another cable for my rig. I have several custom-made cables. But after yet another show when my two of my primary cables we completely clustered after just one set (I move around a lot), I finally felt it was time to try something new. Right out of the box, the vibe is super cool. Delivery was on point. I appreciate the care in packaging up my purchase. Then, my first show with the cable and I can tell a huge difference in the fact I no longer had a wad of cable into my pedal board. The materials y'all use, the great "rattlesnake" design I chose, the neutrix ends, solid shrink, it performed flawlessly. I am sold! Now I need to get another one! Super great product and team! I am a fan!

If you like customer service that feels like you are dealing with a friend who truly wants to help you, then you have found the perfect company for your cabling needs. I had a question on an order that I thought they had sent the wrong color. After a moment on the "chat" platform i called and the exact same person (Hank) answered the phone. Within 30 seconds we were laughing about MY mistake and how he could help make it right. He agreed to make a custom cable for me at a discount and I got it plugged into my guitar 2 days! UNBELIEVABLE customer service!! Thank you, Hank!
Thoughts about our Service:
Started with a personalized video after my purchase order and ended with the story above. I will never buy cables from anywhere else.
These cables are up there with the best. I never had an issue with the first one I got over a year ago and decided to replace all my cables with there's. Standard and speaker cables are of exceptional quality. Their customer service and fulfillment is great and fast.
Are you looking for something custom? A set of specific-length patch cables? Or a longer or shorter instrument cable? Maybe you're looking for a limited weave we offered in the past but is no longer available. Shoot us a Custom Build Request, and we'll see what we can do to help!
We are musicians. What does that mean? We know what it feels like when gear fails on stage. We hate that feeling, and we think about that with every build. As musicians, we also know how hard the road can be on gear and focus on making it stand the abuse.
