Pedal Line Friday :: Fernando D.

Fernando D.

Hey there! I'm the guitarist and vocalist for the progressive death metal band Exuvial from Denver, CO.  We dropped our debut album last year in November 2024, and an instrumental version of our album earlier this year!

This is my current pedalboard setup, which features:

Temple Audio Pedalboard

Shure GLXD16 - tuner and wireless guitar pedal, my main input!

Quad Cortex - for all guitar effects

Abasi Micro-Agressor - added to FX loop on Quad Cortex to give a little extra tightness for leads and tapping sections

Lichtlaerm Audio PandorA Pedal - this pedal is a power amp that I run into my 2x12 cab, and is connected to one of the outputs on my Quad Cortex

TC-Helicon Voicelive 2 Extreme - vocal processor that I use for additional vocal effects and boosts

On the side of the pedalboard are a number of inputs and outputs, which most of them connect to our rolling rack splitter that splits the signal into our in-ear system and to FOH.  I have a RattleSnake loom for most of these connections, and it is SOLID!  I also have a RattleSnake cable connecting my Shure wireless pack to my guitar, and it is much more robust than the stock cable that came with it.

On the pedalboard:

IEC power - one power connection to power everything on this board

XLR Input - this is the input from my microphone

2x XLR Outputs - both of these are from the Voicelive Extreme for my vocals, one Wet and one Dry signal, and these connect to our rack splitter TRS Input - if the wireless stops working for whatever reason, I will connect an instrument cable in here, which will be input 2 on the Quad Cortex, allowing minimal downtime if an issue arises while performing 2x MIDI inputs - while both MIDI connections run to a MIDI interface on our rack, one goes to the Voicelive Extreme while the other connects to the Quad Cortex, which allows me to automate the MIDI patch changes from my laptop to these pedals to remove the tap dancing while performing live.

1x XLR Output - this connects to the Output on my Quad Cortex and into our rack splitter

2x USB Ports - when I want to update firmware or connect the Voicelive Extreme or Quad Cortex to my Computer, I can connect to these ports (which connect to the USB ports on each respective device) to keep the connection clean to the computer.

We will be playing out in 2026 so keep an eye out on our socials for announcements around that!

Submit Your Pedal Line!

About a million years ago, I used to run a blog called EffectsBay. On that blog, the most popular feature I would run was Pedal Line Friday. This is where readers of the site would send pics of their pedalboard and a short (sometimes long) write-up of routing and thoughts about specific pedals and the reasoning why they liked it, etc. Readers. loved this. It was a great way to learn about new applications or techniques regarding pedals. It also brought a little inspiration and knowledge about pedals you were not familiar with. It also brought a great sense of community - people like sharing and absorbing cool things, right? It was a super popular feature, and I loved putting them together.

All you have to do is send a pic of your pedalboard (or pedal line - it doesn't have to be on a board) along with a short (or long) write-up of the board. We want a list of pedals (manufacturer/model), routing would be great, and, most importantly, why you use those particular pedals. Also, this is a great way to promote your band or musical project - include that information as well!

You can send the pic and the write-up to pedalline@rattlesnakecables.com.

Extremely high quality product. I’ve played professionally for three decades and this is the highest quality cable I’ve encountered. And I didn’t buy the most costly option they offer either. Great customer service, a handwritten note in the package, personal thank you email…what more do you... Read
