Pedal Line Friday :: Lorenzo H.

Lorenzo H.

I'm Loren and here's my bass pedalboard for my fuzzy Post-Punk Shoegaze band based out of Bozeman, MT. We're called Dog-Eared and we just released our first EP called "Cellophane Birds EP". It's out on all streamers, and we keep updated on @dogeared406 on instagram.

Here's the board currently, I tend to change my chain around quite a bit. I'm always trying new (to me) stuff, mostly vintage and used pedals, Reverb.com is frequented. A lot of what you're looking at was used on the recording of Cellophane Birds.

First is one of my 2 Boss TU-2 tuners I've had forever.

From there it enters the effects loop of an Electro-Harmomix Silencer, which I love for an FX loop and noise gate.

From there it goes into a Digitech Bass Synth wah that I use for a couple different synth sounds, ones noisey, the other one is a good synth envelope filter for a weird funk/disco-ish song I've been working on. This pedal is a serious sleeper of a pedal for synth and synth envelope filter, it tracks better than a lot of fancier synth pedals, especially for bass. These pedals were cheap for a long time, then shot up in price on the used market once people got wise and the Muse bassist started using one I think. This is first for best tracking.

Then it goes into a Tech21 Sansamp Bass Driver DI V1 (which I much prefer over the V2) for my eq and an always on overdrive tone, that I adjust the level of drive on occasionally.

From there It goes to the fuzz section: an early 2000's Black Russian Big Muff, love Sovtek and Electro-Harmonix and all the Muff world.

From there it goes into Wooly Mammoth clone from an unknown maker that I got from a friend a while back.

From there It goes into an octave Fuzz (probably best at the beginning of the chain, but I was more or less just playing around with different orders) called Powerful Sense of Dread from Powerful Sense Electronics.

From there it goes into an 80's Boss Bass Chorus CE-2B.

Then a Boss Bass Flanger from the same 80's line, the BF-2B. I love vintage analog Boss pedals.

From there it goes into an Electro-Harmomix Memory Boy with an expression pedal made from a Nintendo controller, maker unknown.

Next is a Digitech Polara Reverb.

Next is a weird pedal, it's a circuit bent delay/flange noise type pedal, maker unknown, which works good in correlation with the delay for spacey weird stuff.

From there it goes back to the return on the EHX Silencer, then output to the amp.

I run a Fender MIA jazz bass as my workhorse.

All my patches are Rattlesnake, a couple different purple Rattlesnake cables, and a white coil Rattlesnake cable that I painted weird and wild, like a lot of my weird gear. A number of the pedals I have are beat up, used, and vintage pedals that I put stickers on to thwart pedal-gazers for fun. I use and rely on exclusively Rattlesnake cables because they are the best out there, and I love supporting Montana builders and businesses! Keep up the good work! Much love from Dog-Eared. Check out our EP and catch us out in the wild!

Submit Your Pedal Line!

About a million years ago, I used to run a blog called EffectsBay. On that blog, the most popular feature I would run was Pedal Line Friday. This is where readers of the site would send pics of their pedalboard and a short (sometimes long) write-up of routing and thoughts about specific pedals and the reasoning why they liked it, etc. Readers. loved this. It was a great way to learn about new applications or techniques regarding pedals. It also brought a little inspiration and knowledge about pedals you were not familiar with. It also brought a great sense of community - people like sharing and absorbing cool things, right? It was a super popular feature, and I loved putting them together.

All you have to do is send a pic of your pedalboard (or pedal line - it doesn't have to be on a board) along with a short (or long) write-up of the board. We want a list of pedals (manufacturer/model), routing would be great, and, most importantly, why you use those particular pedals. Also, this is a great way to promote your band or musical project - include that information as well!

You can send the pic and the write-up to pedalline@rattlesnakecables.com.

Well first of all, I've been dying to purchase cables from Rattlesnake for a long time. Finally I was able to purchase a purple 15' Snakehead with gold jacks (one angled) and one red 15' Snakehead configured the same as my purple cable and I was blown away when the package arrived. Not only did the... Read

I recently was in the market to replace my instrument cable and pedal board patch cables. When researching high performance cables I ran across Rattlesnake cable company. After visiting their website and reading about the process that goes into every cable they make, I decided to buy a 10' snakehead instrument cable from them. Within a couple of days I received the cable and was very impressed with the quality, durability, tone and attention to detail they put in to it. I was so impressed I decided to buy a 6 pack of 8" flex patch pedal cables, those came in a couple of days and I was just as impressed as I was with the snakehead instrument cable. I'm very happy I went with Hank and the rattlesnake team, I will be purchasing all my audio cables from rattlesnake here on out. As far as my online shopping experience with them, it was one of the best online purchase experiences for me and their customer service, personable manner to all their customers is great! I highly recommend Rattlesnake Cable Company for all your audio cable needs. Hank and the Rattlesnake team will treat you right and you won't regret it.

Well first of all, I've been dying to purchase cables from Rattlesnake for a long time. Finally I was able to purchase a purple 15' Snakehead with gold jacks (one angled) and one red 15' Snakehead configured the same as my purple cable and I was blown away when the package arrived. Not only did the packaging seem like opening a Christmas present, I was shocked at the presentation of opening the box and all the awesome 'goodies' inside. My first thought was, 'Wow! This is the kind of company I can get behind!' ...and the superior quality of the cables are second to none! There was just that certain killer tone I got from my first gig with my first Rattlesnake Cables. We as musicians know how important it is to have confidence in our gear and Rattlesnake Cables deliver time and time again. Thank you Rattlesnake Cables for making the best cables in the planet!
