Pedal Line Friday :: Lorenzo H.

Lorenzo H.

I'm Loren and here's my bass pedalboard for my fuzzy Post-Punk Shoegaze band based out of Bozeman, MT. We're called Dog-Eared and we just released our first EP called "Cellophane Birds EP". It's out on all streamers, and we keep updated on @dogeared406 on instagram.

Here's the board currently, I tend to change my chain around quite a bit. I'm always trying new (to me) stuff, mostly vintage and used pedals, Reverb.com is frequented. A lot of what you're looking at was used on the recording of Cellophane Birds.

First is one of my 2 Boss TU-2 tuners I've had forever.

From there it enters the effects loop of an Electro-Harmomix Silencer, which I love for an FX loop and noise gate.

From there it goes into a Digitech Bass Synth wah that I use for a couple different synth sounds, ones noisey, the other one is a good synth envelope filter for a weird funk/disco-ish song I've been working on. This pedal is a serious sleeper of a pedal for synth and synth envelope filter, it tracks better than a lot of fancier synth pedals, especially for bass. These pedals were cheap for a long time, then shot up in price on the used market once people got wise and the Muse bassist started using one I think. This is first for best tracking.

Then it goes into a Tech21 Sansamp Bass Driver DI V1 (which I much prefer over the V2) for my eq and an always on overdrive tone, that I adjust the level of drive on occasionally.

From there It goes to the fuzz section: an early 2000's Black Russian Big Muff, love Sovtek and Electro-Harmonix and all the Muff world.

From there it goes into Wooly Mammoth clone from an unknown maker that I got from a friend a while back.

From there It goes into an octave Fuzz (probably best at the beginning of the chain, but I was more or less just playing around with different orders) called Powerful Sense of Dread from Powerful Sense Electronics.

From there it goes into an 80's Boss Bass Chorus CE-2B.

Then a Boss Bass Flanger from the same 80's line, the BF-2B. I love vintage analog Boss pedals.

From there it goes into an Electro-Harmomix Memory Boy with an expression pedal made from a Nintendo controller, maker unknown.

Next is a Digitech Polara Reverb.

Next is a weird pedal, it's a circuit bent delay/flange noise type pedal, maker unknown, which works good in correlation with the delay for spacey weird stuff.

From there it goes back to the return on the EHX Silencer, then output to the amp.

I run a Fender MIA jazz bass as my workhorse.

All my patches are Rattlesnake, a couple different purple Rattlesnake cables, and a white coil Rattlesnake cable that I painted weird and wild, like a lot of my weird gear. A number of the pedals I have are beat up, used, and vintage pedals that I put stickers on to thwart pedal-gazers for fun. I use and rely on exclusively Rattlesnake cables because they are the best out there, and I love supporting Montana builders and businesses! Keep up the good work! Much love from Dog-Eared. Check out our EP and catch us out in the wild!

Submit Your Pedal Line!

About a million years ago, I used to run a blog called EffectsBay. On that blog, the most popular feature I would run was Pedal Line Friday. This is where readers of the site would send pics of their pedalboard and a short (sometimes long) write-up of routing and thoughts about specific pedals and the reasoning why they liked it, etc. Readers. loved this. It was a great way to learn about new applications or techniques regarding pedals. It also brought a little inspiration and knowledge about pedals you were not familiar with. It also brought a great sense of community - people like sharing and absorbing cool things, right? It was a super popular feature, and I loved putting them together.

All you have to do is send a pic of your pedalboard (or pedal line - it doesn't have to be on a board) along with a short (or long) write-up of the board. We want a list of pedals (manufacturer/model), routing would be great, and, most importantly, why you use those particular pedals. Also, this is a great way to promote your band or musical project - include that information as well!

You can send the pic and the write-up to pedalline@rattlesnakecables.com.

I bought two Rattlesnake standard 20 foot cables with gold connector plugs. These cables are truly superior products. I've been playing guitar and bass since 1963 and these are easily the highest quality cables I've owned in my 59 year musical journey, as mostly a hobbyist, but with significant... Read

I support small businesses and non-chain stores every chance I get. However, as a gigging musician for decades, I insist on quality and reliability first. I have purchased and regularly use several Rattlesnake cables and a junction box. As an engineer and a perfectionist, I have never been anything... Read

Rattlesnake cables are truly second to none! Not only are they beautiful, hand crafted in the USA, out of the finest materials available... but Hank and his team provide the highest quality customer service to boot! Seriously, these guys have it dialed. I have several Rattlesnake cables in my chain, and I will always come back for more when the need arises. Hank provides the gold standard for how to treat customers. Quality is outstanding, shipping was lightning fast, and the personal touches like a custom thank you video and note pad are what pushes them over the top! If only every business went the extra mile like Rattlesnake cables... Top notch all the way!

I bought two Rattlesnake standard 20 foot cables with gold connector plugs. These cables are truly superior products. I've been playing guitar and bass since 1963 and these are easily the highest quality cables I've owned in my 59 year musical journey, as mostly a hobbyist, but with significant stage and studio time. The cables are a heavier gauge than most on the market today, which I believe enhances the connectivity. I immediately noticed a slight boost in volume from my amp(s) and the sound produced seems to be more clear. Great signal transmitted! Although the cables are of a heavier gauge, they are flexible enough that they are easy to manage. There is none of the wrangling with twisting, and tangling that seems to go with both super stiff cables and cables that are lighter gauge wire. Those of you who have been frustrated with this know what I mean. Rattlesnake offers a variety of colorful outer plastic sheathing for their cables. Color choices and patterns range from subdued to very colorful. They look cool, seal the cable to the connectors, and serve to help the with the manageability of the cables as described in the paragraph above. The sheathing also makes coiling the cables for storage after use a breeze. The buying and customer service experience was also superior. Probably, hands down, the best online buying experience I've had. Confirmations and notifications about the status of my order were immediate. I bought the cables on a Saturday, they were built and shipped the same day. I received them, from Montana to Iowa, on Monday. Hank followed up to make sure all was OK and then sent me a personalized video thanking me for my business. Rattlesnake Cables provides a superior product at a fair and reasonable price, a really nice buying experience, a simple order and check out process, top notch customer service and follow up, and immediate shipping.... all with a high-level personal touch. Oh, and did I mention their website is very cool and easy to navigate, plus provides great product information? What's not to like? Buy here with confidence. You won't be disappointed!

I support small businesses and non-chain stores every chance I get. However, as a gigging musician for decades, I insist on quality and reliability first. I have purchased and regularly use several Rattlesnake cables and a junction box. As an engineer and a perfectionist, I have never been anything other than completely impressed and satisfied with the quality and gig-worthiness of Hank’s products. There are no better professional-grade cables (and other products) in the market no matter the price. I also can’t say enough about their quick response and production times, and superb customer service. Exactly the kind of support we always hope our hard-earned dollars will get us, but don’t always get. With Rattlesnake Cables, you are assured great customer service, outstanding value, and products that are worth every penny.
