Pedal Line Friday :: Dante G.

Dante G.

We have a Korg Pitchblack Advance tuner which I like because it also acts as a Mute, completely killing the signal with no hiss or anything.

Straight into a Blackhawk Amplification pedal which hits his 'Oroborous' compressor first, which is more of a limiter, just smooths out all the frequencies and makes them the same volume. Into the distortion loop, which is a Blackout Effectors Blunderbuss. Somewhat obscure pedal as they are out of business but although its technically a fuzz, the hybrid transistor setup makes it really aggressive and is quite loud. Into the Michael Klein Oni pedal, which is a boost and a VERY high gain Rat type circuit. I initially bought it for the boost just to boost the blunderbuss, but it really has its own thing going which is quite nice so I have fuzz, distortion and a really great boost/drive all in one loop. Then into the noise gate which is the best noise gate I've ever used.

From the Blackhawk we go to the Mr Black Gilamondo 8 stage phaser, very vocal and I use it in place of a wah sometimes, but can get really vibey and watery, just a great phaser.

Catalinbread Echo, I like that it has the swell footswitch and all the different modes, quite loud too although sometimes I think about swapping it out for a digital delay.

And then honestly the star of the show, the Homy Island Audio Tides. This is the best reverb I've ever used. Just a somewhat basic spring reverb at its core, but it has a tone of gain and options for said gain. The second footswitch activates another layer of boost, and it screamsss when used on its own. But when used with my other drives it really smooths everything out, I couldn't use the Blunderbuss without it honestly.

Strymon for power, I tried to keep this board really simple after trying some other chains that were just way too complicated. Compressor, drives, phaser delay reverb. I don't know of many  scenarios where I would need much else to get through a gig. Into a loud clean amp this chain can get a lot done in the rock sphere. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Submit Your Pedal Line!

About a million years ago, I used to run a blog called EffectsBay. On that blog, the most popular feature I would run was Pedal Line Friday. This is where readers of the site would send pics of their pedalboard and a short (sometimes long) write-up of routing and thoughts about specific pedals and the reasoning why they liked it, etc. Readers. loved this. It was a great way to learn about new applications or techniques regarding pedals. It also brought a little inspiration and knowledge about pedals you were not familiar with. It also brought a great sense of community - people like sharing and absorbing cool things, right? It was a super popular feature, and I loved putting them together.

All you have to do is send a pic of your pedalboard (or pedal line - it doesn't have to be on a board) along with a short (or long) write-up of the board. We want a list of pedals (manufacturer/model), routing would be great, and, most importantly, why you use those particular pedals. Also, this is a great way to promote your band or musical project - include that information as well!

You can send the pic and the write-up to pedalline@rattlesnakecables.com.

Bought couple of cables from Rattlesnake. They are high quality and well made. I forgot to specify an amp cable jack end and Hank called me personally to verify the style I wanted. They'll custom build you a cable too.
