Pedal Line Friday :: John Z.

John Z.

This is a board that I recently built to use with my Friedman Smallbox 50 head.

I’m using the Rattlesnake 4x4 junction box to make setup and teardown super quick.

The guitar goes into the junction box, then to a TC Electronic PolyTune Mini.

The tuner also functions as my input buffer. From there, it goes to a Wampler Ego compressor, an Interstellar Audio Machines Octonaut Hyperdrive, and a JHS Haunting Mids boost.

Then it’s back to the junction box and out to the front end of the amp. The amp has two channels - one is a plexi-style tone, and the other is sort of a modded Marshall tone.

These three pedals, combined with the two amp channels, give me lots of tonal options.

The effects send of the amp goes into the junction box, and out to a TC Electronic Corona Chorus and a Keeley Halo delay.

From the delay it goes back to the box and out to the return of the amp.

The channel switch for the amp is also on the board, and everything is powered by the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 3.

I wired everything up with Mogami cable and Squareplug plugs.

Submit Your Pedal Line!

About a million years ago, I used to run a blog called EffectsBay. On that blog, the most popular feature I would run was Pedal Line Friday. This is where readers of the site would send pics of their pedalboard and a short (sometimes long) write-up of routing and thoughts about specific pedals and the reasoning why they liked it, etc. Readers. loved this. It was a great way to learn about new applications or techniques regarding pedals. It also brought a little inspiration and knowledge about pedals you were not familiar with. It also brought a great sense of community - people like sharing and absorbing cool things, right? It was a super popular feature, and I loved putting them together.

All you have to do is send a pic of your pedalboard (or pedal line - it doesn't have to be on a board) along with a short (or long) write-up of the board. We want a list of pedals (manufacturer/model), routing would be great, and, most importantly, why you use those particular pedals. Also, this is a great way to promote your band or musical project - include that information as well!

You can send the pic and the write-up to pedalline@rattlesnakecables.com.

Hank and his team at Rattlesnake Cable Company make the best cables money can buy. The protective weaves keep your cables from wear and tear. The quality components are best of the best. Build times and shipping is always very quick. I am a Rattlesnake Cables customer for life!

Frustrated with low quality cables, I was suggested Rattlesnake by my brother, and wow, this is a great cable. Before I even plugged it in, the quality was apparent. The weaving is awesome, and I'm not at all concerned the plug will start to separate from the cable (probably my main issue with other cables). Plus, with the Snake Head, I have total peace of mind that my guitar's finish is safe from any possible, what I call, "cable rash" abrasion. Top notch customer service from my first visit to the website, through the unboxing of my new cable. I was able to chat on the website to instantly learn more and decide which cable was right for me. The founder, Hank, sent a personal "thank you" video, which was greatly appreciated, and the free swag items in the package were a cool touch.
