Matthew from Dwells here. Iâve spent years swapping out pedals and have been really enjoying this cast lately.
I solely play Reverend Guitars, swapping between a Double Agent OG and a Charger Hb OG. I use a Victory V40 The Duchess head with a Mojotone 2x10 Slant cabinet with two Celestion Golds. Accompanied by two 20ft Rattlesnake cables in Oxblood.
This lineup consists of (in chain order):
Walrus Canvas Tuner -> Boss OC-5 > Benson Preamp > EAE Halberd V2 -> Discomfort Designs Spectrum (DRV clone, custom) -> TC Mimiq -> OBNE Visitor -> BOSS DD-200 -> Walrus SlötvÄ
BOSS RC-5 to the side is used to play samples in between songs. While powered by my pedalboard, this goes direct in to FOH.
I have these mounted to a SoCal Pedalboards pedalboard and powered by a Caline CP-206.
I use the Walrus Canvas Tuner specifically because I can load our set list on it (not pictured) for easy referencing when playing live.
BOSS OC-5 for lead lines that I want to give some authenticity to. Benson Preamp is new to me. I swapped out a Sketchy Sounds Outlaw Horse Monkeys (Klon clone) for it and am getting used to it. EAE Halberd paired with the DD Spectrum is a killer drive pairing and works great with my setup. TC Mimiq is also new to me. Dwells became a trio earlier this year and I think this may help add some depth to the sound. We shall see.
OBNE Visitor may be my favorite modulation pedal. I like using it as a slow phaser with parallel chords thrown in. This is my second time owning one. A reminder to dust off lost loves before parting with them.
BOSS DD-200 has several of my favorite Boss delays in one box. Switching the presets while playing live is a breeze too.
Walrus SlötvÄ I use for the swell setting to build ambient textures. This is also my second time owning this pedal. Same statement applies.
Chase Bliss Mood I use for strange bleeps and bloops. Itâs also great for catching sample tidbits and tweaking them live.
About a million years ago, I used to run a blog called EffectsBay. On that blog, the most popular feature I would run was Pedal Line Friday. This is where readers of the site would send pics of their pedalboard and a short (sometimes long) write-up of routing and thoughts about specific pedals and the reasoning why they liked it, etc. Readers. loved this. It was a great way to learn about new applications or techniques regarding pedals. It also brought a little inspiration and knowledge about pedals you were not familiar with. It also brought a great sense of community - people like sharing and absorbing cool things, right? It was a super popular feature, and I loved putting them together.
All you have to do is send a pic of your pedalboard (or pedal line - it doesn't have to be on a board) along with a short (or long) write-up of the board. We want a list of pedals (manufacturer/model), routing would be great, and, most importantly, why you use those particular pedals. Also, this is a great way to promote your band or musical project - include that information as well!
You can send the pic and the write-up to pedalline@rattlesnakecables.com.
