I'm the lead guitar for The Angry Witches. We’re a gritty, blues-adjacent band down here in Houston!
I put this board together where each pedal has a purpose when it comes to high gain and the guitars voice. I don’t typically stack gain pedals, but I do always leave the epoch boost and hagerman valve to give my orange super crush that edge of break up and sag/bloom. Despite the super crush being a stellar amp out of the box, the epoch and hagerman give it that little extra, high octane tubey goodness.
The tube screamer and Tacuache are my over drive pedals when I need a little extra oomph in a solo or when the song doesn’t really call for a high gain pedal. The Warp Drive is my primary gain pedal, it’s so incredibly versatile, but when it calls for some of the 80s inspired metal, the dark flame gives me that tone. For being a cheap pedal from Amazon it rips so surprisingly well, I would recommend it to anyone over another high gain boutique pedal. The hizumitas is reserved for those songs that require a lot more attitude and lot more middle finger energy. For songs that need a little more atmosphere I use the pyramids flanger it’s got an incredible range of sounds and modulation. And the there’s the waveformer destroyer. That monster is reserved for when you just need to make noise and assault the airwaves, despite have an awesome high gain distortion, the clipping on it really sets the tone when you need a wall of sound.

The Angry Witches
About a million years ago, I used to run a blog called EffectsBay. On that blog, the most popular feature I would run was Pedal Line Friday. This is where readers of the site would send pics of their pedalboard and a short (sometimes long) write-up of routing and thoughts about specific pedals and the reasoning why they liked it, etc. Readers. loved this. It was a great way to learn about new applications or techniques regarding pedals. It also brought a little inspiration and knowledge about pedals you were not familiar with. It also brought a great sense of community - people like sharing and absorbing cool things, right? It was a super popular feature, and I loved putting them together.
All you have to do is send a pic of your pedalboard (or pedal line - it doesn't have to be on a board) along with a short (or long) write-up of the board. We want a list of pedals (manufacturer/model), routing would be great, and, most importantly, why you use those particular pedals. Also, this is a great way to promote your band or musical project - include that information as well!
You can send the pic and the write-up to pedalline@rattlesnakecables.com.
