READ ANOTHER TESTIMONIAL
I use this board as my primary for gigging and recording for my original band, Dalmation Smile. Here's how the board rolls...
I plug in directly to the Peterson Strobostomp Tuner - works incredibly well and is easy to see (lots of attractive color choices) with an effective and quiet mute.
From there we move to the UA Max Compressor - 3 classic compressors to choose from. I almost always leave the FET 1176 on, occasionally using the LA-2A as a first stage.
The third pedal is also almost always on, just as dialed in on the photo - the Origin Effects Revival Drive with those settings gives any amp I play through just that much more "amp." It sounds great, thickens the sound, and gives it more presence in the mix.
The board then runs to pedal #4, the newly released Crazy Tube Circuits Triptychon - this fantastic pedal has three ("tripty") functions, including four choices of fuzz, a fantastic standalone OD (which when coupled with the fuzz gives your fuzz the vibe of a pushed amp), and a boost/octave function (you choose); the boost gives you the choice of either a rangemaster style treble boost or a mid-focused boost. It's a really great pedal, and with the latched passive switch to the left, you can control the fuzz and OD lines separately.
Pedal #5 is a wonderful Klon-like OD, the Thorpy Peacekeeper, which gives a good range of tones all within the Klonosphere.
Being a big '60's rock fan and playing a lot of those tunes in my cover band, the next OD is the Dr. Robert by Aclam - it's the OD circuit of a Vox UL730 - edgy with even a bit more scratch on tap if you want; it's the sound of The Beatles' Revolver and Sgt. Pepper albums, and it's got a separate boost...and super cover art by Klaus Voorman. (Look him up!).
The final OD, Pedal #7, is the Strymon Riverside - two options of distortion/OD can be recalled with the separate switches. It has a nice classic rock OD and a high gain option for metal tones.
The last three pedals are time-based effects. Pedal #8 is UA's DelVerb, which gives me tons of delay options and enough reverb for any gig; you might want more space/time options for recording, but I figure that's why we have software.
Strymon's Deco is pedal #9, which gives me a bunch of flavors - the tape saturation on the left, which nicely thickens the sound when needed, really useful on single coils, and can also act as a boost; and the right side, which acts as a tape delay; as you turn up the "wobble," you go from flanger to chorus to slapback delay; finally, it has 3 double-track options for even more tonal bliss.
Pedal #10 is a Nobels Mod-Mini, which gives tremolo, U-vibe, and Phaser; the tremolo and U-vibe are solid and usable, but the phaser less so, IMHO. I guess I'm not really a phaser guy, so there you go.
Oh, and did I mention that Rattlesnake cables are the absolute best, and the only thing I'll gig with?!
Dalmation Smile
About a million years ago, I used to run a blog called EffectsBay. On that blog, the most popular feature I would run was Pedal Line Friday. This is where readers of the site would send pics of their pedalboard and a short (sometimes long) write-up of routing and thoughts about specific pedals and the reasoning why they liked it, etc. Readers. loved this. It was a great way to learn about new applications or techniques regarding pedals. It also brought a little inspiration and knowledge about pedals you were not familiar with. It also brought a great sense of community - people like sharing and absorbing cool things, right? It was a super popular feature, and I loved putting them together.
All you have to do is send a pic of your pedalboard (or pedal line - it doesn't have to be on a board) along with a short (or long) write-up of the board. We want a list of pedals (manufacturer/model), routing would be great, and, most importantly, why you use those particular pedals. Also, this is a great way to promote your band or musical project - include that information as well!
You can send the pic and the write-up to pedalline@rattlesnakecables.com.
