Pedal Line Friday :: Josh E.

Josh E.

I love your pedal board series. Had a little break tonight and thought I'd send you mine. My band is actually releasing an EP on February 9th.

Signal Flow:

Boss TU-2 ->

Mosky Loop Box send -> Fulltone Soul-Bender -> Native Audio Midnight Phaser -> EQD Avalanche Run -> Mosky Loop Box return ->

EHX 720 Looper -> BYOC Divided Octave (pictured though its replaced by Fuzzlord FU-2, decisions are hard) -> Greedtone Fuzz ->

Mosky Loop Box send2 -> EHX Memory Boy -> OBNE Dark Star -> MoskyLoop Box return->

Native Audio Ghost Ridge -> Orange Rockerverb

The Memory Boy has an EHX Dual expression on the feedback

The Avalanche Run has the other side of the Dual expression controlling the time

Its on a board I built myself (hence the badly oriented up cable holes).

Its powered by a Truetone CS12 that’s mounted under the board.

The first Mosky Loop box has the digital delay, phase and distortion to create shoe gazey washes. I usually select one to three of those pedals for a section of a song and then kick the group on or off. The expression on the Avalanche Run lets me do bendy delay effects with pitch bends in the delay.

I mostly use the Looper for pads. Either simple ringing tones or noise build ups.

The distortion and octave in the middle are just solo or feature sounds to make something boost or cut.

The second loop is a more analog delay sound an a real noise pad reverb sound. I use this for either huge single note sections or for make atmospheric feedback pads.

Last is the reverb. This is a really great reverb. Simple program with four banks. Really easy way to switch from a little shimmer to a cavernous wash.

Of course I get in and out of the board with Rattlesnake cables. A lot of my pedal jumpers are rattlesnakes as well but sometimes you gotta just use what you got in front of you.

Next up is probably to the CMOSludge copy I just picked up and then a cleaner tone on the orange so I can be more dynamic between different distortion sounds. Its hard to sit still on the board. I feel like they have to keep moving and changing. It helps push your creativity and keeps music fun.

Submit Your Pedal Line!

About a million years ago, I used to run a blog called EffectsBay. On that blog, the most popular feature I would run was Pedal Line Friday. This is where readers of the site would send pics of their pedalboard and a short (sometimes long) write-up of routing and thoughts about specific pedals and the reasoning why they liked it, etc. Readers. loved this. It was a great way to learn about new applications or techniques regarding pedals. It also brought a little inspiration and knowledge about pedals you were not familiar with. It also brought a great sense of community - people like sharing and absorbing cool things, right? It was a super popular feature, and I loved putting them together.

All you have to do is send a pic of your pedalboard (or pedal line - it doesn't have to be on a board) along with a short (or long) write-up of the board. We want a list of pedals (manufacturer/model), routing would be great, and, most importantly, why you use those particular pedals. Also, this is a great way to promote your band or musical project - include that information as well!

You can send the pic and the write-up to pedalline@rattlesnakecables.com.

Up until now I've always purchased cheap cables. I'll spend thousand of dollars on my guitars and amps...and have over looked cables. I heard about the Rattlesnake Cable Co. while walking and listening to a pad cast. I purchased two cables and loved them. When you feel of them you know they are not... Read

Simply the best. Finest quality product at a non-premium price and direct customer service from the owner of the company. Business the way it should be done. Apple, Google and AT&T take note.

I bought a guitar cable several years ago. The transaction was easy, & shipping was prompt. The cable is superlative. It's 15 feet, but I can't detect any tone loss. It is heavy, and built for far more work than I'll ever put it through. I could see this thing touring for years and not breaking... Read

It is heavy, and built for far more work than I'll ever put it through. I could see this thing touring for years and not breaking down. Bonus: I let a friend use it for the bullwhip when he was Indiana Jones for Halloween, and nobody noticed it was a guitar cable. 10/10 recommend and will replace any other cable or patch that breaks down on me with Rattlesnake.
