Pedal Line Friday :: Brian C.

Brian C.

HurriCrane here showing off my small pedal board for both guitar and bass using my 3 new Rattlesnake Cables! These cables are top notch and a pleasure to use. They have phenomenal build quality, high quality components and a "work great, look great, feel great” vibe. It's a joy every time I open up a new package and love that each cable comes in its own printed carry bag.

I learned music on the piano at a young age and switched to guitar in the 6th grade. Formed and played in a couple of punk bands for the next couple of decades. I switched to the bass in my early 30's which was just a gateway instrument to the drums. I stopped playing in bands and just kind of started learning to record and just played all the instruments myself for fun. I'm now 52 and still having a blast.

My pedal board is no frills and accommodates everything I need for guitar and bass. I plug my Green Fender Precision Aerodyne Special bass into the TU-3 tuner with the 15' Sky Blue Standard cable and off to the LS-2 line selector. From there, the green line stays on the top row as the bass line hitting the Source Audio Atlas compressor for some taming then over to the EarthQuaker Devices Blumes O/D for some attitude. The Mean Green 6' Standard cable runs to the Fender Rumble 500 combo amp for plenty of clean or dirty bass action.

I use the same Sky Blue cable going from my Gibson Les Paul Classic to the same tuner, click the line selector over to the red and I'm off to the guitar line on the bottom row of the board. I'm using a stereo Orange Rocker 32 combo amp with a killer overdrive so need for an O/D pedal! Using a 6' Red Standard cable I hit the J.Rockett AirChild Six-Sixty compressor conservatively and have a nicely wrangled signal for the doom of the EarthQuaker Devices Hizumitas or the bite of the RAT that follows. I can lightly sprinkle on some reverb and/or chorus with the EQD Dispatch Master at the end if needed.

I've documented the last decade of my music and instrument practice and just posted my 400th video on my YouTube channel "HurriCrane", Brian is actually my first name. Most of the content there is drums, drumming and recording but I've been back into the guitar and bass lately. Good thing I found Rattlesnake Cable Company to keep me looking and sounding great, Cheers!

Submit Your Pedal Line!

About a million years ago, I used to run a blog called EffectsBay. On that blog, the most popular feature I would run was Pedal Line Friday. This is where readers of the site would send pics of their pedalboard and a short (sometimes long) write-up of routing and thoughts about specific pedals and the reasoning why they liked it, etc. Readers. loved this. It was a great way to learn about new applications or techniques regarding pedals. It also brought a little inspiration and knowledge about pedals you were not familiar with. It also brought a great sense of community - people like sharing and absorbing cool things, right? It was a super popular feature, and I loved putting them together.

All you have to do is send a pic of your pedalboard (or pedal line - it doesn't have to be on a board) along with a short (or long) write-up of the board. We want a list of pedals (manufacturer/model), routing would be great, and, most importantly, why you use those particular pedals. Also, this is a great way to promote your band or musical project - include that information as well!

You can send the pic and the write-up to pedalline@rattlesnakecables.com.

Rattlesnake Cable Company may be one of the best customer service oriented businesses in this modern era. I received video confirmation of my order and the thanks of the owner. They kept me informed of every step of the process that my cables were in until they hit my front door.

I bought an instrument cable two or three years back from these guys and with daily use at home and away jamming with friends I can detect NO wear whatsoever on that cable. Also, excellent customer service. Super responsive (EVEN DURING HOLIDAYS- what the heck guys, take a vacation will ya?!) Just ordered a longer stage cable and had great service again. I'm sure once the cable shows up it'll be just as great as my other one.
