First and foremost, I am by no means a guitar player, but rather a singer who knows how to play guitar.
I am blessed to front the band Low Speed Chase. We are a 90s tribute band and play everything from Alice In Chains to Matchbox 20. If it was a hit in the 90s, chances are we play it.
My pedal chain is as follows:
I use an EQD Swiss Things (pedal board reconciler) to control everything I use. (It's buffered, boosted, contains two loops, as well as dedicated volume and tuner inputs.
I use a Korg Pitchblack tuner currently. I like how accurate it is and I can also still see it in bright sunlight.
I use a Lehle volume pedal to adjust levels and mute. It is ridiculously precise and the magnetic process makes for a very smooth sweep and virtually maintenance free.
The signal chain starts with a Digitech Drop Pedal (great for easily tuning down the guitar in 1/2 step increments).
For the dirt loop, I have an Ibanez TS-9 that leads into a Boss DS-1. The Tubescreamer really brightens up the DS-1.
Those lead into two different Fuzz/dirt pedals: a ProCo Rat ii, an NUX metal core covers the scooped Mesa Rectifier sound I need and no board from the 90s is complete without an original Big Muff NY; All of these dirt pedals are essential to the style music we play.
For the modulation loop, I use a Boss CE-2 chorus, as well as an EHX Small Stone, Boss TR2 tremolo, and Boss FW2 for flanger type stuff. (These are used when I use the Walrus ACS1 direct)
When I'm running direct to my amp I cover reverb and tremolo from the VOX foot switch into my Vox AC15.
The board out put is handled by a 25' custom Rattlesnake Cable Co. snake and then of course I use a Rattlesnake Cable Co. snakehead 20' instrument cable. (Oxblood weave)
About a million years ago, I used to run a blog called EffectsBay. On that blog, the most popular feature I would run was Pedal Line Friday. This is where readers of the site would send pics of their pedalboard and a short (sometimes long) write-up of routing and thoughts about specific pedals and the reasoning why they liked it, etc. Readers. loved this. It was a great way to learn about new applications or techniques regarding pedals. It also brought a little inspiration and knowledge about pedals you were not familiar with. It also brought a great sense of community - people like sharing and absorbing cool things, right? It was a super popular feature, and I loved putting them together.
All you have to do is send a pic of your pedalboard (or pedal line - it doesn't have to be on a board) along with a short (or long) write-up of the board. We want a list of pedals (manufacturer/model), routing would be great, and, most importantly, why you use those particular pedals. Also, this is a great way to promote your band or musical project - include that information as well!
You can send the pic and the write-up to pedalline@rattlesnakecables.com.
