Pedal Line Friday :: Dante G.

Dante G.

We have a Korg Pitchblack Advance tuner which I like because it also acts as a Mute, completely killing the signal with no hiss or anything.

Straight into a Blackhawk Amplification pedal which hits his 'Oroborous' compressor first, which is more of a limiter, just smooths out all the frequencies and makes them the same volume. Into the distortion loop, which is a Blackout Effectors Blunderbuss. Somewhat obscure pedal as they are out of business but although its technically a fuzz, the hybrid transistor setup makes it really aggressive and is quite loud. Into the Michael Klein Oni pedal, which is a boost and a VERY high gain Rat type circuit. I initially bought it for the boost just to boost the blunderbuss, but it really has its own thing going which is quite nice so I have fuzz, distortion and a really great boost/drive all in one loop. Then into the noise gate which is the best noise gate I've ever used.

From the Blackhawk we go to the Mr Black Gilamondo 8 stage phaser, very vocal and I use it in place of a wah sometimes, but can get really vibey and watery, just a great phaser.

Catalinbread Echo, I like that it has the swell footswitch and all the different modes, quite loud too although sometimes I think about swapping it out for a digital delay.

And then honestly the star of the show, the Homy Island Audio Tides. This is the best reverb I've ever used. Just a somewhat basic spring reverb at its core, but it has a tone of gain and options for said gain. The second footswitch activates another layer of boost, and it screamsss when used on its own. But when used with my other drives it really smooths everything out, I couldn't use the Blunderbuss without it honestly.

Strymon for power, I tried to keep this board really simple after trying some other chains that were just way too complicated. Compressor, drives, phaser delay reverb. I don't know of many  scenarios where I would need much else to get through a gig. Into a loud clean amp this chain can get a lot done in the rock sphere. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Submit Your Pedal Line!

About a million years ago, I used to run a blog called EffectsBay. On that blog, the most popular feature I would run was Pedal Line Friday. This is where readers of the site would send pics of their pedalboard and a short (sometimes long) write-up of routing and thoughts about specific pedals and the reasoning why they liked it, etc. Readers. loved this. It was a great way to learn about new applications or techniques regarding pedals. It also brought a little inspiration and knowledge about pedals you were not familiar with. It also brought a great sense of community - people like sharing and absorbing cool things, right? It was a super popular feature, and I loved putting them together.

All you have to do is send a pic of your pedalboard (or pedal line - it doesn't have to be on a board) along with a short (or long) write-up of the board. We want a list of pedals (manufacturer/model), routing would be great, and, most importantly, why you use those particular pedals. Also, this is a great way to promote your band or musical project - include that information as well!

You can send the pic and the write-up to pedalline@rattlesnakecables.com.

I received my cable just a few weeks ago and I've already ran it through the wringer - club gigs, theater gigs, dancehall gigs, and outside gigs. And man, it does not disappoint. First off, it looks cool as all get out. But even slightly more important, it sounds great. Clear signal, no hum, very... Read

After seeing an Instagram ad for the custom Loom products that Rattlesnake Cable Company offers I decided to inquire about having one made for my live stage rig. I've found it more and more cumbersome to run 3 cables (1 front of amp, 2 FX Loop) during performances and this was the ideal solution for me. I submitted my request at around 11pm and woke up to a full quote with diagram of all my custom specs in my inbox. I responded with some minor changes and immediately received a friendly phone call from Hank to go over the details and make sure my specifications were correct for my use. Production started that day and 2 days later I was playing with my new Rattlesnake Cable Co. loom in my living room! The quality is incredible and it really will make setup/breakdown much faster, not to mention the loom itself offers serious protection to damage that can occur onstage and during transitions. Thank you for your prompt and friendly service, will definitely be buying all future cable products from you!

First off, it looks cool as all get out. But even slightly more important, it sounds great. Clear signal, no hum, very transparent. Exactly how a cable should be. The build quality is top-notch too. And the customer service is beyond fantastic. Rattlesnake Cables all the way from here on out. Thanks Hank and team

I've played guitar for over 20 years, and I've never given my cables much thought. However, I recently started seeing ads for Rattlesnake Cable Company, and I like their look and the fact that they are American made, so I decided to give them a shot. And man am I glad I did! First, the shipping was fast, and the packaging was pretty cool as each cable comes in it's own cloth sack. Second, the quality, look, and sturdiness of the cables were were leaps and bounds above what I was use to. Finally, and most importantly, when I A/B-ed them against my normal cables I was blown away by the improved tone. It was like somebody took a blanket off of my amp! I definitely recommend these cables to any guitarist who is serious about quality and tone.
