Pedal Line Friday :: Damian W

Damian W

Hey Rattlesnake! My name is Damian W. I'm an alternative rock musician from Maryland, USA. I'm following your page on Facebook and wanted to submit my pedalboard setup to you guys for pedal line Friday!

Write up:

Hey there people! This is my current (fairly simplistic) pedalboard setup. I run it through a Mesa Boogie Stiletto Ace and an EVH Iconic Series 1x10 5150 in stereo. Here's my signal chain:

1. Korg DT-10 Tuner: Pretty old, I think from the 80s or 90s - incredibly accurate

2. DigiTech FreqOut: Guitar feedback is an important part of my sound, especially for my solo project (here's my LinkTree if you want to check out my new record - https://linktr.ee/damianwolfmusic) and this pedal does a great job of emulating organically occurring feedback from a loud amp with overdrive/distortion

3. Boss CH-1 Super Chorus: My go-to modulation effect. I love using this for arpeggios and sometimes chord progressions. Mixes well with my distortion pedals

4. MXR Phase 90: Solid and reliable phaser

5. MXR Super Badass Distortion: My go-to distortion pedal and an incredibly versatile and powerful piece of gear that I would never not have at this point

6. DOD FX-59 Thrash Master: A cool, vintage (original from the early 90s) fuzz/distortion that I bought pretty much exclusively because Local H used it on their first record. Has a super bass-heavy and unique sound that I dig

7. TC-Electronic Spark Booster: I sometimes use this to get a more low gain "overdrive" sound as opposed to the aggressive high gain sound I use the Super Badass for

8. Boss RV-6 Reverb: A great pedal I used on my recently released solo album. Lots of different options to get the right amount of spaciness

9. Boss GE-7 EQ: Since I do most of my actual eq'ing using the tone knobs on the amp(s) and my distortion pedals respectively, I use this pretty much exclusively as a passive volume boost, though it is nice to have for other potential situations too

10. ISP Decimator: This pedal is great at killing unwanted noise from amps, pickups or as a bandaid solution for ground loops, but I mostly use it to just kill all volume from my amp when I have sections live where I'm not playing at all

11. Boss DD-5 Digital Delay: Another oldie, and what I use to go out to two amplifiers live. I may also use this for weird repeating noises or sounds as intros or interludes to or between songs

Submit Your Pedal Line!

About a million years ago, I used to run a blog called EffectsBay. On that blog, the most popular feature I would run was Pedal Line Friday. This is where readers of the site would send pics of their pedalboard and a short (sometimes long) write-up of routing and thoughts about specific pedals and the reasoning why they liked it, etc. Readers. loved this. It was a great way to learn about new applications or techniques regarding pedals. It also brought a little inspiration and knowledge about pedals you were not familiar with. It also brought a great sense of community - people like sharing and absorbing cool things, right? It was a super popular feature, and I loved putting them together.

All you have to do is send a pic of your pedalboard (or pedal line - it doesn't have to be on a board) along with a short (or long) write-up of the board. We want a list of pedals (manufacturer/model), routing would be great, and, most importantly, why you use those particular pedals. Also, this is a great way to promote your band or musical project - include that information as well!

You can send the pic and the write-up to pedalline@rattlesnakecables.com.

I have never even seen cables before that approach the quality of Rattlesnake Cables! This is no exaggeration; they use a material to sheathe their cables that I have never before seen. I have absolutely no doubt that these will be the most reliable cables that can be found. They inspire complete confidence, and they are sonically ideal. Moreover, their service is the best I have ever enjoyed - personalized, immediately responsive, and truly helpful. I will only buy their cables now.
