Hi Hank and team Rattlesnake! My names Loren and here's my bass pedalboard for a new band I front called Dog-Eared. We're a Fuzzy Post-Punk band based out of Bozeman, MT. We're currently working on an EP that will surface early 2025, we're @dogeared406 on instagram.
Here's the board currently, I tend to change my chain around quite a bit. I'm always trying new (to me) stuff, mostly vintage and used pedals, Reverb.com is frequented.
First is one of my 2 Boss TU-2 tuners I've had forever, from there it enters the effects loop of an Electro-Harmomix Silencer, which I love for an FX loop and noise gate.
From there it goes into a Digitech Bass Synth wah that I use for a couple different synth sounds, ones noisey, the other one is a good synth envelope filter for a weird funk/disco-ish song I've been working on. This pedal is a serious sleeper of a pedal for synth and synth envelope filter, it tracks better than a lot of fancier synth pedals, especially for bass. These pedals were cheap for a long time, then shot up in price on the used market once people got wise and the Muse bassist started using one I think.
This is first for best tracking, then it goes into a Tech21 Sansamp Bass Driver DI V1 (which I much prefer over the V2) for my eq and an always on overdrive tone, that I adjust the level of drive on occasionally.
From there It goes to an early 2000's Black Russian Big Muff, love Sovtek and Electro-Harmomix and all the Muff world. The signal I split here to retain the original signal along with the Big Muff for the low end of the bass signal. For this I use a Saturnworks spliter and Fender ABY to split and rejoin.
From there it goes into an 80's Boss Bass Chorus CE-2B, then a Boss Bass Flanger from the same 80's line, the BF-2B. I love vintage analog Boss pedals.
From there it goes into an Electroharmomix Memory Boy with an expression pedal made from a Nintendo controller, maker unknown.
Next is a weird pedal, it's a circuit bent delay/flange noise type pedal, maker unknown, which works good in corelation with the delay for spacey weird stuff.
From there it goes back to the return on the EHX Silencer, then output to the amp.
I hope to replace all my patches with Rattlesnake when I get the chance, but for now I have my white coil Rattlesnake cable that I painted weird and wild, like a lot of my weird gear. A number of the pedals I have are beat up used and vintage pedals that I put stickers on to thwart pedal-gazers for fun. I look forward to owning more Rattlesnake cables and gear in the future, I love supporting Montana builders and businesses! Keep up the good work, best cables out there!
About a million years ago, I used to run a blog called EffectsBay. On that blog, the most popular feature I would run was Pedal Line Friday. This is where readers of the site would send pics of their pedalboard and a short (sometimes long) write-up of routing and thoughts about specific pedals and the reasoning why they liked it, etc. Readers. loved this. It was a great way to learn about new applications or techniques regarding pedals. It also brought a little inspiration and knowledge about pedals you were not familiar with. It also brought a great sense of community - people like sharing and absorbing cool things, right? It was a super popular feature, and I loved putting them together.
All you have to do is send a pic of your pedalboard (or pedal line - it doesn't have to be on a board) along with a short (or long) write-up of the board. We want a list of pedals (manufacturer/model), routing would be great, and, most importantly, why you use those particular pedals. Also, this is a great way to promote your band or musical project - include that information as well!
You can send the pic and the write-up to pedalline@rattlesnakecables.com.
