My pedalboard is really simple and small, and will likely see some swapping of pedals in the future, but this is how I've got it set up for now, specifically based on running this into my Mesa/Boogie California Tweed 6V6 4:40 1x12 Combo. Here is my signal chain set up for my pedal board:
Everything starts at my Shure GLXD6 wireless system connected to Ch. 4 of my Rattlesnake Junction Box. I route it this way, instead of just starting with the wireless system straight into pedals becuase I want to also be able to bypass this if I want to hard wire in. (The wireless is also the Tuner thoughβ¦so that wont happen often, only as a backup).
From there, I go into an MXR Dyna Comp if I want to give some sustain or level out my signal, and into two different pedals for drive. First into an Effects Bakery Big Katsu pedal - I bought it at a guitar shop in Japan not knowing really what it was and just said "Lets get this mystery pedal." It's a nice heavy distortion good for punk and rock. Next I go into a Boss Blues Driver Waza Craft (BD-2w) if I want a bit of an overdrive / softer lead tone. I never run the Big Katsu and Blues Driver together. From there, I send everything back to the junction box (Ch 1) to the amp. From the Amp I run the effects loop back to the pedal board to go through my Electro-Harmonix Oceans 11 reverb - this thing has so many different types of reverb and even some delay and tremolo. It's great for when you want a really thick or ambient reverb. Then I send it all back to the amp via the junction box.
The three cables going from Amp <β> Board all live in a cable loom I made that isn't nearly as nice as the Rattlesnake ones, along with the power for my pedalboard that lives underneath. The only music project I'm working on is for Missoula Rock Lotto, happening on 3/22. There will be six bands and it should be sick.
About a million years ago, I used to run a blog called EffectsBay. On that blog, the most popular feature I would run was Pedal Line Friday. This is where readers of the site would send pics of their pedalboard and a short (sometimes long) write-up of routing and thoughts about specific pedals and the reasoning why they liked it, etc. Readers. loved this. It was a great way to learn about new applications or techniques regarding pedals. It also brought a little inspiration and knowledge about pedals you were not familiar with. It also brought a great sense of community - people like sharing and absorbing cool things, right? It was a super popular feature, and I loved putting them together.
All you have to do is send a pic of your pedalboard (or pedal line - it doesn't have to be on a board) along with a short (or long) write-up of the board. We want a list of pedals (manufacturer/model), routing would be great, and, most importantly, why you use those particular pedals. Also, this is a great way to promote your band or musical project - include that information as well!
You can send the pic and the write-up to pedalline@rattlesnakecables.com.
