I used to believe that as long as cables were built well, they were all basically the same. I didn't have Mog***I or any crazy big names, but my cables were decent and that seemed fine. Then I bought 2 Snakehead instrument cables, a speaker cable, and an IEC cables from Rattlesnake and took them to the studio. Swapping those 4 cables...and doing nothing else...showed a -2db drop in the noise floor on my rig. An SM57 into a preamp into a DAW, with digital metering, does not lie or exaggerate. My rig shed -2db of noise just by adding 4 Rattlesnake cables! Once I picked my jaw up off the control room floor, I ordered Ultraflex cables to repatch my pedalboard with. The following weekend, my band Trash Diva played the annual MacRock fest.
