If you're looking for the best speaker cable for your guitar amp, or looking for a bass amp speaker cable, look no further! Our heavy-duty cables are manufactured and milled here in the United States and hand soldered in Missoula, Montana!
Our speaker cables use a pair of 12AWG Bare Copper conductors, ensuring great flow to the cabinets. We feel that a 12 gauge speaker wire is the best speaker wire for our cables. These are the definition of beefy and burly! We terminate these cables with our Switchcraft 188 Jumbo Straight Nickel Plugs, and for you bass players out there, we also offer Neutrik SpeakOn connectors.
You can mix and match your connectors (Switchcraft 188 to Neutrik SpeakOn, for example). Just select the appropriate plug configuration. If you require a custom speaker cable or something different (XLR or G&H Right Angle 1/4"), you can submit a custom build request, and we might be able to help you with this specific build!
Just like our instrument cables, these can be weaved or left bare. We just typical lengths - 3' is the most common length for speaker cable, but if you require more length (3' and 6' combination is great for full-stack configuration). We also offer 10' lengths when the head/amp needs to be away from the speaker cabinet. If you have specific length not listed, please send a custom build request and we can help you!
When it comes to getting the best signal from your amplifier to your cabinet, consider our high-quality guitar Speaker Cables / bass speaker cables!
Even though both cables look pretty similar from the outside, they are drastically different internally. An instrument cable is based on a coaxial cable. A coax cable has internal braided or spiral copper shielding, and at the center of that, there is a protected primary conductor wire. The primary instrument signal flows through the center conductor while the shielding protects the signal from any outside RF (Radio Frequencies) entering the signal.
A speaker cable typically has two thick wires connecting to the tip and sleeve of the 1/4" phono plug – one for positive and one for negative. There is typically no shielding in a speaker cable.
If you have a cable and are unsure if this is an instrument cable or speaker cable, there are a couple of clues to look for. Rolling the cable firmly with your finger, you may feel the two wires depending on how firm the outer PVC is. If you still can't determine, you'll need to open the plug and possibly pull back the strain relief heat shrink. Hopefully, you can see wire connecting to the shield (ground) or if there is twisted shielding connected to it. If you see the shielding connected to ground, then it's most likely an instrument cable. If you're seeing a dedicated wire connected to it, it's probably a speaker cable.
This is a great question and is highly misunderstood with guitar and bass players. We wrote a very in-depth article – "Can you use instrument cables as speaker cables". All of your questions will be answered in this great article.
Cables and products ship in sturdy cardboard. Single shirts go out in polymailers. We take pride in our quick shipping and quality packing!
