Artist Spotlight :: Scott Myhre

Bio

Scott Myhre

InComing Days is a five-piece punk/party metal band from Spokane, Washington.

Sure to make the crowd bounce with their unique blend of skater pop-punk and metal-core, InComing Days makes music for just about everyone.

What/Who inspired you to pick up your instrument?

My mother was a singer and played piano. We always had one in the living room growing up. I started playing the viola at a very young age. But then switched to guitar around 13 years old. The early 90s alternative and grunge were very popular when I was starting to learn guitar.

Bands like -
Nirvana, Bush, Silverchair, and Smashing Pumpkins were some of my early influences.
Then Bands like -
Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, and Alice In Chains, started becoming more and more influential in my guitar playing.

What piece of musical advice would you give yourself if you could go back in time to the beginning of your musical journey?

Practice, practice, practice!!!

What keeps you excited about playing?

The process of creating music with my friends, who are also very talented musicians, constantly keeps me wanting to come back for more. Being able to perform for people that enjoy the music is the proverbial "icing on the cake."

Desert Island 3 pedal pedalboard (not including tuner)

1 - Metal Muff
2 - Reverb
3 - EQ

When you find yourself in a musical rut, what techniques do you do to break out of it?

The first thing I usually do is listen to some different music than I have currently been listening to. I find that this helps me get into a different mind frame musically almost every time.

Who is your favorite artist/band today? And who was your favorite artist/band ten years ago?

Too hard to listen to my current favorite bands would be, but for the longest time, I was heavily influenced by Metallica. Early on, when I started playing better, I found that Metallica was very fun to listen to and play. It helped me become a better guitar player all-around in my early years.

When you find yourself in a music store - what is your go-to riff when test drive gear?

Something from my band, Incoming Days.

What is your most prized/cherished piece of gear? And why?

Baritone LTD Eclipse

Fits my current bands sound great; we play in Drop B. Plus, it has a Piezo pickup also.

What is the next big musical purchase you're hoping to save for?

Official ESP, made in Japan Eclipse Guitar

I bought a guitar cable several years ago. The transaction was easy, & shipping was prompt. The cable is superlative. It's 15 feet, but I can't detect any tone loss. It is heavy, and built for far more work than I'll ever put it through. I could see this thing touring for years and not breaking... Read

The clarity ?? of these cables is awesome and remarkable. I have tried a lot of cables in my time. And most end up in the trash ???? ????. But Rattlesnake Cables, stand up to my giging and don't short out. Awesome job guys.

It is heavy, and built for far more work than I'll ever put it through. I could see this thing touring for years and not breaking down. Bonus: I let a friend use it for the bullwhip when he was Indiana Jones for Halloween, and nobody noticed it was a guitar cable. 10/10 recommend and will replace any other cable or patch that breaks down on me with Rattlesnake.
