I'm not a fan of TRS Y-Cables. They tend to fail, and you are stuck with the length you get. We are often asked about Y-Cables, and I recommend a TRS to Dual Mono Splitter!
You have maximum durability at the Y connection with a TRS to Dual Mono Splitter. It will hold up, and a Y will slowly get stressed. Additionally, you have the flexibility of using a variety of cable lengths. You can use long instrument cables, TRS cables, or patch cables for the TS or TRS connection. You're not stuck with the set length with this splitter, and since application requirements often change depending on the situation, it's nice to have options.
If you're using a Rickenbacker deluxe instrument with the Rick-O-Sound output jack, this is a great solution (in conjunction with a TRS cable). Learn more about the Rick-O-Sound here. Or if your instrument uses a TRS OBEL (On-Board Effects Loop) similar to what Jerry Garcia was known to use, this is also an excellent tool. The TRS to Dual Mono Splitter is great for guitars with dual outputs (magnet and piezo) that use a stereo output jack. Additionally, the splitter could be used with the Little Thunder guitar pickup systems!

Y cables, by design, cannot handle heavy strain, and the probability of failure is high. That's the number one complaint. The second issue is that you're stuck with whatever length the Y cable is set. As you requirements change, you may need shorter cables from the junction, or a longer cable for the primary TRS or Mono cable. With a TRS to Dual Mono Splitter or Mono to Dual Mono Splitter, you have a solid connection for the junction. You have the flexibility to swap out cables down the road.Answer

Rattlesnake Cable Company is a premiere example of excellence in product quality and business. If you were to ask me what brands best represent the audio industry from here in Montana, Rattlesnake Cable Company would be one of the first to mind. Rattlesnake Cables define cable quality. Prior to using them, the difference between "any old cable" and a "nice" cable was negligible to me, but now I cannot go back to just "any old cable." Rattlesnake cables will hold their own in audio quality, durability, AND asthetic when compared side by side with any high end cable on the market.

As a contract musician who sometimes plays several different venues a week, continually unwrapping and wrapping cords can cause disfigurement over time, so I opted to go with a heavier duty cable. A reputable bass player on a popular bass forum recommended Rattlesnake Cables for their build quality and durability, so I decided to give them a look. First impressions are important and I loved their web store layout. A minimal amount of clicking brought me where I wanted to be and I was able to customize what I wanted. Checkout was a breeze. Easy peasy. The quick shipping kind of caught me off-guard, but was welcomed. When the box arrived a couple of days later, I opened it to discover my cables in a cool bag and a personal note and autographed paper pad as well. I wasted no time in putting my new 10' cable through the paces as I had a gig that evening and am happy to report the cable is solid as a rock and I can see why it comes with a lifetime guarantee. It's made for whatever kind of abuse you want to give it. I suspect it'll be much easier to lose it or have it stolen than it will be for it to quit working one day. Now I've owned good cables before, but I've never received the level of customer support as I did with this purchase. Not only did I get a personalized email from Hank asking how my purchase experience was, but the next morning when I come dragging in from my gig, there was a personalized video from him in my email inbox. To me, that in itself personifies what a great company would do to make sure they had a satisfied customer base. From this point forward, all my cables will be Rattlesnakes.
