The Rattlesnake Standard Instrument Cable comes in 3', 6', 10', 15', and 20' lengths. Each cable can have a straight, right angle or a mix of Neutrik Nickel guitar cable plugs (Neutrik Golds are also available). Colors include red, black, sage, dirty tweed, blue, copper, mean green, and snake weave. Each cable is fully wrapped in heat and abrasion-resistant outer sleeving from plug end to plug end.

Our Standard Instrument Cable is a great cable to run between your pedalboard and amp or between your guitar/bass and pedalboard or amp. If you're concerned about the finish of your instrument, take a look at our Snake Head Instrument cable!

Q: Are your cables directional?

Answer

No, our cables are not directional. If you're purchasing a Snake Head, the Snake Head portion should be on the instrument side, but that only is cosmetic. The cable will work fine if plugged in any direction.

Q: Should I purchase a snake head or a standard?

Answer

The Snake Head is only needed if you're concerned about finish wear if you have vintage or sensitive finishes like thin nitro, etc. If you don't care (or even want the wear) a Standard is great for the primary instrument cable. If this cable is going from pedalboard to amp, then it should be a Standard to ensure maximum protection of the cable.

Q: Should I purchase a silent plug?

Answer

A silent plug is not necessarily an "upgrade". Typically, a silent plug is for acoustic players who do not have the ability to mute their signal and would unplug their instrument. If you're an electric player with a Tuner or Volume pedal, then you don't really need a silent plug. Silent plugs are great, but they do provide another potential point of failure - so I always recommend, if you don't need the feature, purchase a standard plug.

Q: Should I purchase gold or nickel plugs?

Answer

Some of our customers swear by gold contacts. Some of our customers can't hear a difference. Gold does provide a better contact surface, but the signal improvement may be hard to notice. Some of our customers (including myself) just like the cosmetic look of the black shells with gold contacts. If you're in a humid climate and deal with corrosion, gold might be better for you as well.

Q: What does oxygen free bare copper (OFBC) mean?

Answer

When people read that, the first assumption is that the copper is somehow 'air tight'. Nope. OFBC is part of the smelting process where the oxygen molecules are smelted out or removed to a point where it's below .001%. This makes a very pure copper allowing for great conductivity.

Q: Where is your cable manufactured?

Answer

We have a variety of wire mills that we work with. All of the wire mills we work with our in the United States. We take extreme pride that our cable is milled in the United States and hand assembled here in Missoula, Montana.

Q: What is the weaving made of?

Answer

The weave is a poly-weave, meaning it's a plastic polymer-based weave. We use a variety of brands, but primarily TechFlex. It's designed to be heat and abrasion resistant. It is not a cloth/fabric weave, which tends to fray and stain easily.

I had been looking for a cable with a 90 degree jack and the add for Rattlesnake Cables came up on FB. I loved the ash limited edition and ordered it. They informed me of the build from start to finish and I had it in hand in 2 days. Wow!! Amazing cable and well beyond my expectations. It came with a very cool cotton bag and candy like you get with a new guitar. Nice touch. I will be ordering more products as I need that stereo cable with the splitter for my RIC and the two Parkers that are both stereo . The cable and hardware is bomber and is the nicest cable I have ever seen. Thanks guys for such a great product and super service. You are hitting the Wow Factor!! Rock ON!!

Super cable! Using it on my Oscar Schmidt Ubass. The cable keeps all of the deep, upright bass tones that come from the 'bass ukulele'. I am sure it will only get better as the cable breaks in. Cable weave is definitely wear resistant, a little coarser than I expected, but should last longer than me at this point. Now I see why you might want the 'snake head' version if you keep the cable close to your instrument. Excellent - personalized service. Appreciated the follow up email as well though there were no problems to talk about!
