Our XLR cable uses our dual conductor cable milled in the United States. All XLRs use Neutrik Pro-Grade Nickel or Black Shells and are available with weave or no-weave if preferred. Rattlesnake Cable Company XLR cables are great for studio application and live stages. Weaving allows for a great opportunity to color-code cables and adds additional protection. What is an XLR cable?
XLR stands for "External Line Return" and is typically used for connecting microphones to an interface, mixers, or other types of recording equipment. Originally, XLR was used for Cannon X series cameras in the 1950s and stood for (X=Cannon X), (L=Latching), (R=Rubber/Neoprene insulation). XLR is also known as a "balanced cable" as well and can be used for a variety of methods of sending a clean, noise-canceling signal to powered monitors. XLR plugs are also found in older speaker cabinets connecting to amplifiers.
How to connect XLR cables?
XLR cables typically have male and female ends. Depending on the equipment, this may vary. Microphones require a female XLR plug, and the interface accepts the male XLR plug. When you purchase an XLR cable from this page, we will connect a single male and a female for the XLR plugs.
How long can an XLR cable be?
The maximum length before noise is introduced is 200 feet. We offer cable lengths of up to 30 feet with a weave. If you need a longer run, we can provide longer lengths without the weave. However, the longest cable we have with a weave is 30 feet.
Home Theater and A/V Applications
Many users in the Home Theater world use XLR cables as well. If you're connecting AV processors, Power Amplifiers, and Subwoofers, you may benefit from high-quality XLR cables. Please note that XLR cables should only be used to send balanced signals. If you're connecting power amplifiers to passive speakers - a speaker cable with a higher gauge wire will need to be used.

No. The contacts are the same for either style of Neutrik plugs. This is strictly a cosmetic preference. There is a higher purchase cost for us on the black.Answer
Absolutely, just fill out a custom build request. It's important to note that the longest length with weave is 30', but we can make longer XLR cables without weave (bare) at any length desired.Answer
The weave is a poly-weave, meaning it's a plastic polymer-based weave. We use a variety of brands, but primarily TechFlex. It's designed to be heat and abrasion resistant. It is not a cloth/fabric weave, which tends to fray and stain easily.

I can't say enough about the exceptional quality of Rattlesnake Cables nor the customer service from Hank and his team. Owning some of the most expensive top of the line Fender Bass guitars and Mark Bass heads and cabinets, I feel you're only as good as the weakest link and every tiny detail matters, thus why my connecting cables need to be the very highest quality and construction. Rattlesnake is my high end cable CHOICE and investment, always exceeding my demands with cabling, stunning woven covers, heavy oversized "snakehead" gold connectors that are angled for flawless signals in my equipment. Warrantied for life but I always carry an extra Rattlesnake in my arsenal when at an event. If you are serious about your sound and passionate about music, then you need Rattlesnake, a brand that's making an impactful name for themselves against their competitors. When I arrive and unpack my gear, it's exciting to open up my cloth carrying bag and pull out a very heavy Rattlesnake to complete my look and sound that makes a biting statement with the first to the very last note. Everyone loves a beautiful Rattlesnake siting and can't keep their eyes, nor ears off of it, clearly something different than a made in China connector cable. If you loop your cable through a strap I recommend adding the protective “tail”. To protect the surface of the guitar I will be ordering again and I highly recommend this product and company!
