Answer
No, our cables are not directional. If you're purchasing a Snake Head, the Snake Head portion should be on the instrument side, but that only is cosmetic. The cable will work fine if plugged in any direction.Answer
The Snake Head is only needed if you're concerned about finish wear if you have vintage or sensitive finishes like thin nitro, etc. If you don't care (or even want the wear) a Standard is great for the primary instrument cable. If this cable is going from pedalboard to amp, then it should be a Standard to ensure maximum protection of the cable.Answer
A silent plug is not necessarily an "upgrade". Typically, a silent plug is for acoustic players who do not have the ability to mute their signal and would unplug their instrument. If you're an electric player with a Tuner or Volume pedal, then you don't really need a silent plug. Silent plugs are great, but they do provide another potential point of failure - so I always recommend, if you don't need the feature, purchase a standard plug.Answer
Some of our customers swear by gold contacts. Some of our customers can't hear a difference. Gold does provide a better contact surface, but the signal improvement may be hard to notice. Some of our customers (including myself) just like the cosmetic look of the black shells with gold contacts. If you're in a humid climate and deal with corrosion, gold might be better for you as well.Answer
When people read that, the first assumption is that the copper is somehow 'air tight'. Nope. OFBC is part of the smelting process where the oxygen molecules are smelted out or removed to a point where it's below .001%. This makes a very pure copper allowing for great conductivity.Answer
Our primary instrument, speaker, XLR, TRS, and Flex patch cables are built using Rattlesnake-brand bulk cable that is custom manufactured for us in the United States. We developed the specifications for each cable based on the flexibility, durability, handling, and electrical performance we wanted. It is not off-the-shelf Belden, Mogami, Canare, or another manufacturer’s finished cable covered with an outer weave. After the bulk cable is manufactured to our specifications, every finished cable is cut, sleeved, soldered, tested, and packaged by our team in Missoula, Montana.
Some specialized products use third-party bulk cable when it is the best fit for that application. When they do, we identify the cable manufacturer and model in the product’s Specifications tab.
Complete construction and electrical details, including conductor material, wire gauge, capacitance, shielding, and cable diameter, are provided in the Specifications section of each applicable product page.
Answer
The weave is a poly-weave, meaning it's a plastic polymer-based weave. We use a variety of brands, but primarily TechFlex. It's designed to be heat and abrasion resistant. It is not a cloth/fabric weave, which tends to fray and stain easily.

I have been loving my custom loom! It has been reliable and convenient at every show. Set up and tear down needs to be quick; especially at festivals. My Rattlesnake Loom has made it extremely easy for myself and stage hands to get my guitar rig on and off stage quickly! Instead of having to grab multiple cables, and wrap them up, now I have one line of 4 cables that I can quickly grab and wrap up in seconds! Also, the materials that Rattlesnake uses in their cables are extremely high quality, built in the USA! Not only are they great cables, but the customer service is absolutely incredible! Hank called me up within hours of my purchase to make sure I'm getting exactly what I need (measurements, type of cables, breakpoints, etc.). As musicians, we are always on the look for quality equipment at affordable prices; and I gotta say I am super impressed with Rattlesnake Cables!

I have been dealing with Hank and the rattlesnake team for 6 yrs, the products are top notch tools every instrument player serious about their tone should have! I have ordered two 15 foot instrument cables in custom blue as well as a matching speaker cable. The quality is outstanding my 6 yr old cable still works and looks as good as it did the day it arrived. Customer service as it should be! You have questions? Ask they will provide with the answers you seek. I also just recently purchased some of their 3’ patch cables for a new board I am building. As long as this musician is in need of cables , Rattlesnake will be my goto builder it said cables. The prices are more than reasonable for the high quality product Hank is producing. Noiseless, consistent & most important no tone sucking. They look good, they sound better and as musicians we all know when you sound better you play better. Thanks to Hank and the crew at rattlesnake cables in MT. Play it loud I do Steve

Well, let me tell you.... I messaged Hank at Rattle Snake Cables after finding their product on a Sunday night around 9PM in California, totally did not expect a reply. Hank was there and answered all my questions, I was interested in some cables that had previously been offered in special color weave options. Turns out Hank had some more of each of the materials I was looking for and made me up a custom URL to the shopping cart to make it happen. Not only that but he offered me the special pricing that they had offered when they previously ran those colors. The next morning I received a personalized video message from hank telling me that my cables were on the work bench and were the first project for the day. 2 and a half days later the box arrived at my door. WOW the fit and finish of the packing before I even got the cables out of their bags. Unreal, next level and whatever else you want to call it. And then I got the cables out of the bags, the build quality is second to none, I was extremely impressed and right away went to tell a few other guitar playing friends about them and my experience. Not only do they look better than any of my cables, I am pretty sure they sound better, and if not they make me feel better hahaha so that alone is worth it. Now that I have found these cables, I know exactly who I am going to use when I finally figure out my pedal board and am ready for patch cables. I couldn’t recommend hank and the team at Rattle Snake Cables more and have told all my friends near and far that play about them.
