I switched to Rattlesnake Cables after having several big name cables fail after normal use. The colors Hank uses to wrap the cables look so good I’ve actually bought some of the short run colors on impulse. Being a gigging musician, Rattlesnake cables’ resistance to tangle is another huge plus and makes at least one part of load out a breeze and they lay great when stretched out on stage. I always use a Rattlesnake cable to run from my pedalboard to my amp in red to match my head and cab. The quality of the cable ends is first rate as well and I’ve yet to even have the slightest short or failure in the cables I own.

I bought 2 leads for guitar to pedalboard because i wanted custom built right-angle to right-angle cables, and with the snake head option it all seemed very functional. When I got the cables and plugged in, I realised not only were the cables functional and really high quality, but my tone opened up, it was a huge improvement. Previously I used off the shelf yet expensive cables, but these are a notch above. Since then I've bought another 2 cables for my pedalboards to amps, and I've removed the buffer on my pedalboard as i no longer need it.

The plug ends are expertly heat shrunk, and I can tell they won’t need electrical tape in a few months like most other cables. Anytime I loan one of my cables out at a jam or swap meet to a forgetful musician, I get asked about it upon return, and I cannot speak highly enough about these cables. From the flex patches, to the genius snakehead instrument cables, to the custom length speaker cables that I needed to run my stacks, these things are second to none!

So, I've been playing bass now for 35 years and in that time I've used a LOT of stuff. And while I'm certainly not jaded (I still love it, everything about it), it takes a lot to impress me these days. And while it would be easier to get excited over a well-built, great-sounding bass or amp, with things like cables, not as much. I mean, they're just guitar cables, right? You plug one end into your guitar, the other goes into your amp and you're making noise! What's the big deal? But through casual internet browsing, I happened across Rattlesnake Cable Company and after a thorough perusal I sent them an inquiry for one of their "Snake Head" instrument cables. After a few emails with the owner of the company (yeah, the owner), I placed my order. Now, from reading the description on the website I felt sure that the cable would be very nice. Features such as a heat and abrasion resistant sleeve that runs the length of the cable and heavy-duty Amphenol plugs (I chose a right angle / straight plug configuration) are something you don't see in standard instrument cable fare. Good stuffs there, no doubt! But when I got the cable in, my jaw dropped! This is one massive, burly cable! I mean, you could probably hit this thing with an RPG and it would survive! The packaging and "presentation" impressed me as well! The cable came packed in a metal canister (think those round metal tins you get Christmas cookies in), inside what was meant to appear as a 'snake handling bag' (rattlesnake cables.... Get it?). I like it when a company goes that extra mile for the customer. It tells me they're proud of what they're doing and take it seriously. I've ordered several more and they've all been great! Can't recommend them enough!
