Having experienced a good few cable failures at gigs I was looking for a quality product on a different level. My last cable failure was an expensive Fender Custom shop cable - when I found the tag it indicated Chinese manufacture so I pulled the cable apart and realized there had to be something much better. I was in 12th Fret Music in Boise, ID where I found the Rattlesnake display - upon inspection I bought one and was so impressed I ordered others online. Now both my pedal boards use Rattlesnake. Rattlesnake saved the day with their custom cables! I had a need for a bass of mine to have an instrument cable but have one side the pancake plug. They worked with me as my request with a regular instrument wire was too thick for the pancakes designed for pedalboards. They offered to make my instrument cable with pedalboard wire but true to their focus on full fidelity warned me these cables had a higher capacitance. I’d been working to try and find a solution for this bass which is a David King A Bass which I ordered as a younger man for standing only, but now being much older I usually sit when playing. The jack is the issue as it points down, so I’ve tried all kinds of solutions including straps, pillows, classical guitar devices… nothing worked good enough. I just finished testing the custom cable and the pancake works perfectly for sitting. I tested the sound through headphones using my Mac. Actually for me there’s no negative aspects with the high capacitance cable as I ordered them a bit shorter (don’t need 20’ or greater cables these days anyway) plus this bass is always run active (passive might see some top end roll off but I’m playing bass so anything could be offset with EQ). I’m very happy as this bass plays insanely well and I couldn’t use it as often as I’d like.
