I’d been working to try and find a solution for this bass which is a David King A Bass which I ordered as a younger man for standing only, but now being much older I usually sit when playing. The jack is the issue as it points down, so I’ve tried all kinds of solutions including straps, pillows, classical guitar devices… nothing worked good enough. I just finished testing the custom cable and the pancake works perfectly for sitting. I tested the sound through headphones using my Mac. Actually for me there’s no negative aspects with the high capacitance cable as I ordered them a bit shorter (don’t need 20’ or greater cables these days anyway) plus this bass is always run active (passive might see some top end roll off but I’m playing bass so anything could be offset with EQ). I’m very happy as this bass plays insanely well and I couldn’t use it as often as I’d like.
